Baltimore’s Own Richard Burton Announces SHYNE Fundraiser for Youth TV Show
(BALTIMORE – June 11, 2008) – Some know him for his singing. And others know him from HBO’s “The Wire” and TV 25, the City’s cable station. Still others remember when he rode around in an old cop car in Sandtown – toiling diligently, even to the extent of risking his life, to help stamp out illegal drugs like crack, cocaine, and heroin.
Burton, a human “beat box” performer extraordinaire/actor who played “Shamrock” on “The Wire,” recently announced the onset of his latest venture: “SHYNE.”
When asked what SHYNE is, he replied, “SHYNE is an educational and entertainment television show that will air on the CW FOX network in 8 states in front of 300,000 households.”
Burton told BMORENEWS in his first exclusive interview on the topic that he and friends, including Devon Brown (SHYNE Vice President/”Boys of Barraka”), will be hosting a June 28th fundraiser at the Enoch Pratt Free Library Central Branch to raise money for a youth television show.
“We are soliciting $5000.00 dollar sponsors and $1000.00 dollar sponsors for our SHYNE Fundraiser and Gala on June 28, 2008 at the Enoch Pratt Main Library, 400 Cathedral Street,” he said. “These sponsors will receive their own VIP area at the event as well as walk the RED CARPET.”
When asked what SHYNE is, he replied, “SHYNE is an educational and entertainment television show that will air on the CW FOX network in 8 states in front of 300,000 households.”
He added, “Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.”
Special guests include BerNadette Stanis from Good Times, the cast from HBO’s “The Wire,” and Jay Claxton. Also invited is a personal friend of Burton’s, the one and only Doug E. Fresh.
