Mr. SOUL! Documentary to Screen at Coppin State University
(WASHINGTON - April 12, 2012) - Shoes In The Bed Productions presents a screening of the work-in-progress documentary “Mr. SOUL! ELLIS HAIZLIP AND THE BIRTH OF BLACK POWER TV,” which will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the Talon Center Atrium at Coppin State University. The event is co-sponsored by the Entertainment Management Student Union.

LOCATION:Coppin State University, Talon Center Atrium, 2500 West North Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21216 Produced and hosted by the late broadcast pioneer (and Howard University alumnus) Ellis Haizlip, “SOUL!” was the first “Black Tonight Show,” an award-winning series that airedon the Public Broadcasting Service from 1968 to 1973. The “Mr. SOUL!” film chronicles the “SOUL!” series, one of the most controversial, successful, and socially significant Blackproducedtelevision shows in U.S. history.
