(CHARLES COUNTY – July 3, 2017) – The case of Carlos DeAngelo Bell, 30, is one that will not be forgotten for a long time to come. According to reports, the former middle school aide has stated that he has HIV. If these allegations are true, this is one of the worst crimes ever done: maliciously subjecting children to sexual abuse and on top of that, videotaping the ordeals.

To knowingly share HIV with another person is simply one of the cruddiest things imaginable. And this was with children, a whole other slap in the face of the boys involved, their parents, and other educators. What in the world happened to this man such that he could do this horrific act to innocent young people?

Our prayers go out to the victims and their families. If Bell is guilty, heaven only knows what kind of punishment could even begin to do justice to these alleged wrongs.

According to Charles County officials, Bell was indicted Friday for sexual assault and for recording the assaults at school, his home, and at other locations during February and March of 2016.

Bell worked at Benjamin Stoddert Middle School until December. Further, he was the head indoor track coach at LaPlata High School.

Seven children (6th to 8th graders) have been identified, as more children may come forward now that the light is on Bell.

“If you don’t think I’ve asked myself thousands of times, since learning, you’re wrong,” said Charles County Superintendent Kim Hill.” She added, “It is devastating to us that something like this could take place in a classroom – in a school building where adults are charged with taking care of children.”

In a day and time when distractions are at an all-time high, we must continue to lift up our parents and those charged with educating our youth. Even more, we must stay in communication with our youth – as often as possible. With so much noise, it is so easy to lost sight of the precious gems right before our very eyes.

May we all be more sober and vigilant as our children are constantly faced with all kinds of evil people with ill intentions. Again, may God bless the young men and their families. I pray that none have contracted the HIV Virus. So far, so good: There are no reports of those tested being HIV positive thus far.
