BUSINESS: Black Wall Street Returns Friday for Seventh Awards Ceremony in Big Apple

(HARLEM – October 18, 2017) – This Friday, the Bmorenews Black Wall Street Team will return to New York for its seventh Black Wall Street Awards. Since 2012, Bmorenews has been hosting the on-going business networking series in the Big Apple – along with four other cities: Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Atlanta and New Orleans.

According to Bmorenews.com founder and publisher Doni Glover, “The first Black Wall Street Awards we held in New York was at the United Nations.” He added, “We’ve since been to Amy Ruth’s on West 116th Street, Corner Social on Malcolm X Blvd., Harlem Shake on West 124th St., Weeksville Heritage Center on Buffalo Avenue in Brooklyn, and Brooklyn Borough Hall earlier this year.”

This time around, the awards will be held at the Urban Yoga Foundation at 549 W. 152nd Street in Harlem from 6 to 8 pm.

Glover said, “We connected with Ghylian Bell at the Urban Yoga Foundation to put together another great ensemble of black business owners and professionals.”

The purpose of the Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards is to one, pay homage to Black Wall Street in Tulsa where 600 black businesses were destroyed May 31 to June 1, 1921. Over 10,000 people were displaced. Secondly, the awards aim to celebrate black entrepreneurs and professionals as well as the people who support them regardless of race.

Glover said, “By definition, most anyone qualified. Our mission is to encourage business within the black community, and, truth be told, that deserves the attention of everyone in America.”
