11th District Delegates report from Annapolis
(ANNAPOLIS - March 11, 2010) - The water main break and the ensuing water crisis that struck our community this weekend are continuing to seriously impact our friends, neighbors, schools, and family members. This severe disruption to local infrastructure and quality of life has our full attention.
We understand the frustration expressed in the phone calls and emails our offices have received from those affected by the water outage. Your delegates recognize that this is a substantial hardship for families.
We want you to know that your District 11 legislators are doing all we can to expedite the resumption of water service. We are advocating on your behalf to all levels of government.
The latest information that we were provided by the County as of noon today is that "City officials now believe that the main will be repaired by around noon tomorrow. It will then take hours for the water to replenish. The City hopes that full service will be restored by midnight on Wednesday evening."
Having our schools closed again following the recent snow storms is a major concern, as this is a critical time of the year for our students. With Maryland School Assessments taking place now and Advanced Placement exams and High School Assessments following shortly, the county must implement a plan to get our students back to school. We have placed calls to Baltimore County Public Schools asking if they have a plan if the water situation does not improve. We have suggested that BCPS or the Maryland State Department of Education provide portable bathrooms and bottled water to schools so that they can reopen.
We are in touch with the County Executive's office on a constant basis and have spoken with city officials. We have stressed how critical it is to have the water main break fixed. Baltimore County's website, http://www.baltimorecountymd.gov, is the best place to receive up-to-date information. There is an "Alert" box at the top of the page which provides the latest news and press releases. We have also made the Governor and his staff aware of the water crisis, and they are monitoring the situation.
Your District 11 delegates pledge to continue to work on your behalf until this situation is resolved. Feel free to contact our offices either by phone or by email.

The Glover Report: Will Anthony Brown Look Out for Black People?:
My question: What did you get for your support? Another question: Given the high level of advocacy of a then-Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele – a black Republican, has Brown spoken up for African Americans in a similar fashion since he’s been Lieutenant Governor? Read in Full >>
