The African American Democratic Club of Prince George’s County, Inc. (AADCPGC) is partnering with the African American Democratic Clubs of Baltimore City and Montgomery County to host a Community Awareness for Change Conference.  This year’s theme is “Challenges for Community Change.”  The conference will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Colony South Hotel, Clinton, Maryland 20735.

The “challenge” topics for the conference are:

  • “African Americans in Leadership Roles in the Maryland State Democratic Party” – African American Leadership in the Maryland State Democratic Party is critical to strengthening our Party and the state of Maryland. Now is the time.

  • “The Political and Financial Impact of Re-Districting after the 2010 Decennial Census.”- The decennial census triggers the complicated process of re-apportionment, redrawing congressional districts and state legislative districts based on the population. The Census is also used to distribute more than $450 billion in federal funds, much of which targets low-income communities and vulnerable families by funding Social Service Block Grants, Medicaid and other services.  When historically undercounted minority and low-income populations are not counted, communities lose millions of federal dollars to fund services.

Don’t miss this opportunity to participate in these important discussions and take away information that is valuable to every community in Maryland.

Register on-line at www.aadcpgc.com.  Registration is on a first come – first serve basis.
