BMORENEWS' Doni Glover and WBAL's Frank DeFilippo on TV Hill (NBC)
(BALTIMORE - October 22, 2008) - WBAL TV 11's Barry Simms interviewed www.BMORENEWS.com publisher Doni Glover and WBAL radio's Frank DeFilippo last Wednesday. The show aired on Sunday, October 19, 2008.
Glover has been providing political analysis on the station for the last several years and has provided some insight on all three levels of government.
"It is always a pleasure and an honor to appear on TV Hill," Glover stated. "The show really affords viewers a peek at what the everyday person on the street is thinking and allows provocative and tantalizing discourse that you won't find anywhere else. Special thanks to the Channel 11 family for allowing me this opportunity."
He added, "Whether the host is Barry or Stan Stovall, I am constantly reminded of the responsibility I have as a black journalist. Further, to be juxtaposed to people of the ilk of Mr. DeFelippo is truly amazing. My late father always schooled me to how significant a person he has been to Maryland politics and I have nothing but the utmost respect for him. While I do not always agree with him, I do respect his opinion and am usually fascinated with his vast knowledge and charismatic appeal to the camera. Mr. DeFilippo has more knowledge of politics in one finger than most politicians have in their entire being."

I didn’t realize until I received many emails after the first posting that a person being passionate about the arts and politics in equal measure was such a rarity. In fact, I thought it common knowledge that the two were connected indefinitely. I thought it appropriate that this be my post for the year because it will set the platform for the articles that will follow in weeks to come. I was invited to write here because I am an Independent, as I explained before. I am an Independent because of my understanding of America and its purpose. The arts and philosophy have helped to shape those ideas for me just as they did our founding fathers. Read in Full >>
TGR: BET: "Big Ass Chain"? Enough Is Enough!:
BET, in my best estimation, is a profit-driven entity like any other business. However, black America deserves so much more. BET depicts black people as savages with animalistic and materialistic ambitions. BET, from my perspective, condones drug dealing and orgies, popping bottles and partying, and avoids the true beauty of the black experience in America. Somewhere along the line, some industry executives have told our young and beautiful artists that in order to make money, they have to be murderous thugs, whores and prostitutes.
