At an announcement in front of Waverly Elementary/Middle School, Governor Martin O’Malley officially endorsed Lt. Governor Anthony Brown for Governor in 2014. Brown, who made his candidacy for Governor official at Prince George’s Community College to a crowd of about 2,500 supporters on Friday, spent the day on his “Making Maryland Better for More Marylanders” statewide tour with stops in Frederick and Silver Spring before the Baltimore event.

Given that you have been outspoken in your support of gun reform, it is the height of irony that some would perceive that your company would now essentially endorse the NRA’s extreme position against such laws by broadcasting this event.

CBC Hosted Press Conference on Exorbitant Rates of Prison Phone Calls

The Press Conference on Prison Telecom Reform was held today at 11:30 am at the Capitol Visitor Center, HVC, Studio B because countless families of inmates have been fighting high prison call rates that often shut down communication with loved ones. The prohibitively expensive inmate call-rates – as much as $4 per-call plus a $.55 per-minute charge – frequently force families and individuals to make difficult financial decisions or forgo contact with loved ones in prison altogether. There is also an abundance of evidence that shows these high telephone rates have devastating effects on both inmates and their families, and may inhibit inmates’ successful reentry into society.

Shirley Nathan-Pulliam (D-10^th) is hosting a fundraiser on Thursday, April 25 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Martin’s West, 6817 Dogwood Rd Baltimore, Md. 21244. The new district crosses the city line, but also includes part of the old District 10, where Nathan-Pulliam has been the top vote-getter in the Democratic primary.
