County Executive Ike Leggett To Host Governor at CountyStat Session on Overtime
Montgomery Program Similar to CityStat, Which O’Malley Initiated as Baltimore Mayor
(ROCKVILLE - May 9, 2008) - County Executive Isiah Leggett will host Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley at a session of Montgomery County’s new CountyStat program, which will focus on the issue of overtime work within the Fire and Rescue Service and the departments of Police, Public Works and Transportation, and Correction and Rehabilitation. This will be the first of several meetings to address the issue of overtime.
The CountyStat program was initiated in January and is patterned after the CityStat program that O’Malley instituted when he was Mayor of the City of Baltimore. Montgomery’s CountyStat program is an accountability and assessment process that reinforces the County government’s focus on results in an effort to improve performance. Through a series of presentations and meetings, CountyStat provides a forum to continually monitor and measure the effectiveness and efficiency of County government services. The system uses “real time” data to discuss, examine and analyze past, present and future performance strategies. CountyStat meetings focus on departmental performance as well as cross-cutting initiatives. The meetings also facilitate the development of targeted action plans to ensure a culture of continuous improvement and delivery of results.
Information about CountyStat, including meeting dates and topics, can be found on the County website at www.montgomerycountymd.gov/countystat.
