DELEGATE MORHAIM APPOINTED TO INFORMATION, BIOTECH COMMITTEE

(OWINGS MILLS - June 22, 2009) - Delegate Dan Morhaim, M.D., was appointed to the new Joint Information and Biotechnology Committee by House Speaker Michael Busch. The committee was created in the 2009 session by House Bill 438 which passed the General Assembly unanimously.

In making this selection, Speaker Busch said, "I am pleased to appoint Delegate Morhaim to the Joint Information and Biotechnology Committee. I am confident that Delegate Morhaim's background and experience will add an important voice to the Committee as we build on Maryland's biotechnology assets."

Delegate Morhaim added, "These are vital areas for both the short and long term in Maryland's future. Information technology and biotechnology are critical to the well-being of our economic, health, and environmental systems. I look forward to participating actively."

Delegate Dan Morhaim, M.D. was first elected in 1994. He is  the only physician in the House of Delegates, and he serves as Deputy Majority Leader and Chair of the sub-committee on Government Operations.
