Guest Editorial: Values from the Great Depression
Over the past year, the Great Recession of 2007-2009 has changed my perspective. I have begun to realize that there is a soft underbelly to prosperity. Have my nieces, nephews and the children of close family friends absorbed those core values that created the American Dream? Or did their family’s prosperous lifestyle erode those core values? And if so, is it too late to re-learn the time-tested core values of hard work, thrift, education, God and charity so that we will not slide into a New Great Depression? Hopefully, the Great Recession is a wake-up call to America.
