(BALTIMORE – June 25, 2008) – The HARAMBEE Dinner Club, established in the fall of 2002, will feature Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown on Monday, June 30, 2008 from 6 to 8 pm at Baltimore Pho (Fuh) Restaurant located at 1116 Hollins Street in Baltimore.

Lt. Gov. Brown is the first African American Democrat to hold that position in Maryland.

There will also be a special presentation made in honor of Sojourner-Douglass President Dr. Charles Simmons. Dr. Simmons is the longest serving president of any Maryland college or university.

Further, the event will also serve birthday cake for BMORENEWS publisher Doni Glover. Glover will be 43-years old.

The purpose of the HARAMBEE Dinner Club is “to break bread, network, and support local business,” according to Glover – the co-founder of the group. David Miller, Chief Visionary Officer of the Urban Leadership Institute, is the other co-founder.

Topics to be discussed include the Base Re-Alignment And Closure (BRAC) initiative which will bring thousands of jobs and several business opportunities to Harford County – located just north of Baltimore.

Glover said, “With such a huge federal initiative coming to Maryland, this special edition of the dinner club will provide attendees with the opportunity to dialogue with the state’s leading proponent of BRAC, Lt. Gov. Brown.”

Over the past six years, the HARAMBEE Dinner Club has featured a litany of leaders, including then-Mayor Martin O’Malley, Michael Cryor (now the head of the Maryland Democratic Party), and Congressman Elijah Cummings. It has been featured at a number of locations across Baltimore, Baltimore County, Prince George’s County, Anne Arundel County, Montgomery County, and Washington, DC.

This is a free event, brought to you, in-part, by BMORENEWS.com, The Baltimore Times Newspapers, Cain Contracting, Chesapeake Urology, All Staffing Inc., John Bugg, State Farm, and AM-N-PM Computer Services, and Phyllis Wheatley Learning Centers.

Seating is limited. Please RSVP to 443.983.7895.
